Hi, I’m Keith, an integrative psychotherapist working online and in-person. I work integratively, meaning I draw on CBT, Compassion Focused Therapy, ACT and attachment-based approaches. With all forms of OCD, I help clients understand the cycles of intrusive thoughts, compulsions, reassurance seeking and self-doubt, while also exploring the past experiences, relationships and beliefs that may have contributed to a loss of trust in themselves.

My work is not only about reducing symptoms. As someone with lived experience of OCD, I also help clients build self-trust, develop a stronger sense of what they deserve from life, and make choices guided more by their values, relationships, interests and enjoyment, rather than by fear, guilt or obligation.

Qualifications

Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Master’s (MSc) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, including specific OCD and anxiety training.

Cancellation policy

Keith requires at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel a session. With less than 48 hours’ notice, the full session fee is due.

I believe counselling works best when it is shaped around you. Everyone brings their own experiences, personality, circumstances and way of making sense of the world, so I take an integrative approach that allows me to draw from different therapeutic approaches depending on your individual needs.

My work integrates approaches including Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Compassion Focused Therapy, alongside creative approaches where these feel helpful and appropriate. I enjoy finding different ways of exploring what is going on for you, particularly when words alone don’t quite capture what you are experiencing. We can work together to understand your thoughts, feelings, relationships and patterns, while also exploring what may help you move forward.

I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress, relationship difficulties, life changes and OCD. I have a particular interest in supporting people experiencing OCD and intrusive thoughts. OCD can take many different forms and can involve unwanted thoughts, images or urges, as well as behaviours, rituals or mental compulsions that can feel difficult to control. It can be exhausting and isolating, particularly when you feel caught in cycles of doubt, fear and reassurance-seeking. I offer a space where you can talk openly about these experiences without fear of judgement or having to explain or justify what you are going through.

When working with OCD, I can integrate approaches such as CBT, Compassion Focused Therapy and principles taken from Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) alongside my wider integrative approach.

Our work does not have to follow one fixed model. I believe therapy should be flexible and responsive to you, and we can draw on different approaches depending on what you are struggling with and what feels most helpful. Sometimes this may involve structured work around OCD and compulsions, while at other times we may explore the underlying emotions, relationships, self-beliefs or experiences that are affecting you. My aim is to work alongside you to find an approach that feels both supportive and purposeful.

I’m a BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist, Registered Mental Health Nurse and EMDR Therapist with around 15 years’ experience across NHS mental health and private practice.

I specialise in OCD, including presentations that can feel frightening or difficult to talk about, such as moral and scrupulosity OCD, taboo intrusive thoughts, harm and responsibility themes and “just right” experiences.

My approach is formulation-led rather than one-size-fits-all. I aim to understand what is maintaining each person’s difficulties and recommend an appropriate treatment pathway. I also have particular experience with eating disorders, disordered eating, trauma and neurodivergent clients.

I’m developing my Good Person Trap framework to explore the ways responsibility, morality, certainty and the fear of being a “bad person” can become entangled in OCD.

Treatment approaches

Becky’s specialist OCD treatment uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and/or Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT), tailored to the individual presentation.

She does not use EMDR as a first-line treatment for OCD. Where appropriate, EMDR may be introduced to address trauma or other non-OCD difficulties.

  • BSc Mental Health Nursing
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Level 7)
  • EMDR training through the EMDR Academy
  • BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN), Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
